WWA Wildlife Report - June 2000

This month's flowers around the site included red and white campion, buttercup, oxeye daisy, dames violet, dog roses, meadow cranesbill, kingcup and the last of the stitchwort and yellow flag. Poppies were just beginning to flower on Butterfly Meadow at the start of June and provided a fantastic show by the end of the month. Unfortunately twitch has strongly reinvaded in places. The apple trees looked less 'blighty' than in previous months.

Butterflies were out this month - comma, peacock, whites, orange tip and speckled wood. The first dragonfly of the year was spotted (being pursued by a bird) - probably a red Sympetrum.

Three kingfishers, jays, warblers and goldfinches all evident around the site
