This area is heavily shaded by dense top cover, and provides protection for birds, and nesting sites, including boxes. It is too dark for grass to flourish, but there are shade-loving plants aplenty. It is particularly lovely in the Spring.
Next to it is a small plantation of Hazelnut trees, only 3 years old, but which will provide food for nut-eaters in the future.
