Norfolk Royal

Dessert

UK; found c. 1908 on Wrights Nursery, North Walsham, Norfolk. Introduced 1928
Striking appearance. Sweet, crisp and juicy. Formally grown commercially to small extent, but skin becomes very greasy which led to its decline in popularity. Currently being revived as 'pick your own' apple to eat sharp and crisp from the tree.
